Do you realize that many of the people in the Bible wished they were not chosen to accomplish what God had picked them for? Because of their lack of qualifications, they were concerned. Some even thought God wasn’t the one who spoke to them about their purpose.
For example, God chose Moses to speak to Pharaoh and free the Israelites from slavery. Moses asked God to please send someone else (Exodus 4:13) because he did not feel as though he was qualified. Then we see in 1 Samuel (10:22) that Saul was afraid to be king. When all the tribes came before Samuel for God to choose their king Saul hid among the baggage.
Also, we can see in Judges 6 where God asked Gideon to lead the people to fight against the Midianites, Gideon asked God why he chose him since his tribe was the least of them. He also doubted that God was the one speaking to him and asked for many signs of proof before he would comply with what God was asking of him.
So Relateable
I relate to these men in the sense that I feel underqualified to be writing for God. The fact that he has called me to write, I don’t doubt, but sometimes I wonder what I have to offer. This is when I can give in to the desire to compare myself with other writers.
I have no great story to write from like some, no sordid past that God saved me from, and no sad story; that I overcame through him. Although, I am very thankful that I do not have any of those. I see the impact that the women who have those stories are making.
I look at the difference they are making, and I ask myself, what do I have to offer? Do you find yourself in a similar place? Feeling like you have nothing to offer, for the kingdom of God, feeling overwhelmed and underqualified for what you know he has called you? If the answer is yes, then keep reading!
Underqualified = Useable
In the story of Gideon, God slims his army down from 32,000 men to 300, so the Israelites could not say the victory came by their hand. They were no longer qualified or equipped to fight a huge army. This fact placed them in a position where they had to rely on God.
In the kingdom of God, being underqualified is a good thing because we have to do everything in God’s power. When we work in his strength and power is when we know we are doing it right, and God will receive all the glory.
Although we may be underqualified, God is fully qualified. When we allow Him to work through us, amazing things can transpire. When Moses allowed God to use him, he saw the power of God through miracle after miracle. He was also able to experience fellowship with Him in an incredible way.
Don’t Forget the Source of your Success
When Saul allowed God to use him, he saw enemy after enemy defeated, but the second, he took matters into his own hands, was when all his trouble began. Saul forgot that the only reason he was able to defeat his enemies was because of the power of God. He forgot how little he was and became big in his eyes (1 Samuel 15:17).
So, when we start to see God working through us, let us remember how unqualified we felt when we first started. God chooses people to carry out his plans who know they cannot do it in their strength; those people know that they shouldn’t be the first pick for the job. Therefore, God will gain glory through them.
So don’t allow yourself to become overwhelmed with doubt today, instead turn your focus to your relationship with God and allow him to use you for his glory. The devil wants you to feel like you are not enough, so you do not fulfill your purpose. Don’t listen to his lies; God doesn’t make mistakes; if he chose you, there is a reason. Rest in that truth today.

I know for a fact that I’m not qualified for my calling but that’s ok. God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called! Meaning if He only used the people that had the right skills for the job then flesh would take over when the praises and compliments come in. In all things God gets the glory.

I love that you said he qualifies the called! That is very well said.
