Many Christians have become so afraid of offending that they no longer stand for absolute truth. Truth is treated as a disease when, in fact, it is the key to freedom.
We live in a world trapped in bondage, but we prefer to leave them in bound than offend them.
I have seen Christians asking for prayer and good vibes or giving credit for a miracle to God, the universe, or whoever you believe in.
Why would anyone want to believe the way you do if you don’t fully believe it yourself? These posts give the impression that each individual can believe however they feel works best for them, and we will all get the same results; this is a lie.
John 14:6 states, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is the way to heaven, victory, power, abundant life, and a relationship with God. Everything that is not Jesus falls short. That is true; not a personal truth but 100% truth.
Speaking the Truth is Love
Do we not love people enough to show them the truth? Why are we concerned about offending, when people are dying and going to hell? Between being offended and hell, I would choose offense any day, wouldn’t you?
Loving our neighbors as ourselves means putting their needs above our own. The need for approval should come second to the need of our neighbor.
Our friends need to hear about the good things God has done for us, starting with the cross. They need to know that the God we serve is living and desires a genuine relationship with them and that in him is abundant life and freedom.
Fill Yourself With Truth
But first, Christians need to know those things for themselves, which starts by opening the Bible. We cannot speak the truth if we ourselves are not full of it.
The Bible should be our standard for living; if anything in our lives opposes the Bible, we must remove it.
Our words, thoughts, and actions should fully reflect the word of God. Living as Jesus; begins with knowing him, and how we know him is by reading the Bible.
Jesus Offended
One of those things we can learn about Jesus is that he was not afraid to offend. He did not water down his message to gain approval; instead, he boldly spoke the truth. Jesus was crucified because his message was offensive. Let that soak in for a minute.
The Jews were angry that he set himself as equal with God and offended that he contradicted their traditions. The Pharisee’s and Sadducee’s offense and jealousy led to them turning the people against Jesus and ultimately killing him.
Bold Christianity
If Jesus stood for truth, so should we. I am not advocating that we throw tact to the wind and intentionally offend our friends and family, but I am promoting bold Christianity.
Let’s be proud to serve God, give Him glory for what he has done, and share the freedom found in him.
The world needs the good news we carry; it is time to share it even if it offends.
