Have you ever been in a church service where the Spirit of the Lord was strong, and you saw manifestations of his power? If you have, then you know the beauty of physically feeling the presence of God and the wonder of seeing him move in other people’s lives. Maybe you received a prophetic word or the gift of the holy spirit, and in those moments, you had strong confidence in God.
But then you leave for the night, or you wake up in the morning, and you no longer feel the presence of God, and then weeks go by, and you become less confident in your prophetic word or that you received the Holy Spirit. Satan will try to discourage you and make you believe what you experienced wasn’t real.
My church recently held revival services where we saw the power of God move in mighty ways, heard prophetic words, saw people delivered and filled with the Holy Ghost, and tangibly felt the Holy Spirit. I believe that even though the evangelist has gone home, that revival will continue in this church, but my point to this blog is to encourage the body not to be discouraged when the feeling wears off.
Not By Sight
God never meant for us to live by our feelings. 2 Corinthians 5:7 states, For we live by faith, not by sight. Our feelings are a form of sight. Our bodies take in the world around us by what we see, taste, and feel; therefore, we have learned to live by our senses. But the truth is God is no closer to you when you feel and see him than when you can’t.
A Personal Relationship
Seeing him manifested in the physical was never meant to fill us, which is why the feeling wears off. What fills us is a personal relationship with God. We must be careful we do not get into a mindset of desiring the physical manifestation more than we long for God himself. We will only be truly filled by spending time daily in his presence by praying, reading the word, and making our relationship with him a priority.
Now that you have experienced a revival of your heart, it is time to get back into the word and the church. Don’t be satisfied by what you received from the powerful service; instead, be hungry for more of God. It is time to seek a personal relationship with him and dig into the word of God.
