He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds, you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Generally speaking, we take advantage of the person with whom we are the closest, and who loves us the most. This is because we do not fear this person’s rejection, but know they love us and will offer us grace. Similarly, the church treats God much the same.
Many Christians have quit rejecting sin but instead have chosen to live in it. We rest in the knowledge that we have grace and take advantage of the unconditional love of God. Christians are openly walking in sin and are not standing out as different. But if we put a focus on the suffering that provided that grace we would have no desire to pick up, the sin that Jesus took upon Himself on the cross.
What is the Price of Grace?
Christ bore our sin in his body. Punished, he provided our forgiveness. We take an amazing gift and dishonor it when we choose to continue in sin. Jesus took our sin so that we could be righteous. There will be temptation as long as we are on this earth, but we have the power to resist the devil and make him flee. We should be walking in that power. We must die to sin. Jesus paid the price for us. So we could lay down the old man.
Mocked, beaten, pierced, whipped, and hung on a cross, Jesus suffered it all for our forgiveness. Go back and read that again, but this time think about each one of those things.
Fully human he felt every strike of the whip, every punch that was thrown into his face, every thorn that dug into his head, and every nail that pierced his body. He went through every bit of that for you and for me. Because his love for us was so intense and deep. He suffered so that we did not have to be subject to sin. So that we could walk in righteousness.
Shining His Light
We are the light to the world, but we have become so shrouded in darkness that our light cannot be seen. It’s time that we treat Jesus’ sacrifice like the reality that it is, and quit taking advantage of his love and grace. Let us shine so bright that the only thing the world can see is Jesus.

Thank you for the reminder that in our humanness we are so unworthy. Only because of Christ, we are saints.

The one who knew no sin took on sin to save me! I’ve boldly walked away from the things of this world to make Him proud. And when I fell short I thank Him for His grace.
